Iveco S-Way Fit Cab
The Iveco S-Way Fit Cab is a concept truck based on the Iveco S-Way long-haul tractor and conceived as a “gym on wheels” for drivers. Iveco presented it on 2 July 2019 in Madrid, at the international launch of the new IVECO WAY heavy-truck range, together with a second concept, the Magirus.
Iveco planned to use the concept for workshops with drivers and truck owners at all races of the 2019 European Truck Racing Championship, starting at the Nürburgring on 19 July 2019. The feedback was to be included in the final development phase. Gerrit Marx, President Commercial and Specialty Vehicles at Iveco, said the company wanted trucks “developed by the customers for the customers”.
Outside, the truck has a sporty black-and-red livery with a logo inspired by fitness programmes. Dedicated hooks and anchor points hold purpose-designed accessories, and a retractable front step can also be used as a training tool. It also had resistance bands looped on a hook behind the driver’s door window.
Inside, Iveco lists a wall-integrated multi-directional pulley, a roof-integrated multi-grip and a package of resistance bands, sliders and weights. It is a pulley system for upper- and lower-body exercises, a ceiling pull-up bar, a floor-mounted upper-body resistance machine, storage for multi-plate dumbbells and a wall poster with exercises.
Iveco Germany reported that the Fit Cab and Magirus concepts were the main attractions of the 2019 Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, with the Magirus the clear public favourite. The Fit Cab was also shown at the Jarama round, the final round of the championship, and some of its equipment was still in development.
