Roboscan 2M - new X-ray for aircrafts

MB Telecom was recently awarded with the 1st Prize at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, for their latest contraption that will tighten airport security. Roboscan 2M AERIA is their latest and very first solution for aircraft scanning, able to fully X-ray small to medium-sized airplanes in order to detect threats, illegal or undeclared goods.

Basically it’s a MAN truck with an extensible crane arm holding a high-performance scanning device that casts the radiation to a detection module placed on the ground. The system is ready to scan in less than 20 minutes, drastically reducing the conventional plane checking time. All that needs to be done is to position the truck in a clear flat area, fully-extend the crane arm and place the detection module directly beneath the scanner. Then, a radio-controlled tug unit will be attached to the plane’s front landing gear, dragging it through the scanning ray. Among other features, the system is fully autonomous, designed to operate in rough weather conditions, highly mobile (can be driven on public roads and moved from airpot to airport) and it is radiation safe for operators and bystanders.
