Ural 44202 is a civilian version of the military Ural 4420. It is unified with the Model 43202 and become much more popular than the base Model 4420. Total mass of a trailer is 18500 kg (2300 kg more than the Model 4420), payload on a fifth wheel is 7500 kg (2000 kg more). Curb weight of the tractor is 7390 kg (410 kg less).

Main exterior features are O-47A tires instead of OI-25 and half-fenders instead of the full fenders on the rear wheels. Overall dimensions — 6836x2475x2635 mm. Top speed — 72 kph. Fuel consumption — 38 liters per 100 km.

Early Ural 44202 trucks were fitted with a Kamaz 740 diesel. In 1986-1993, the factory produced the updated Model 44202-01, unified with the Model 4320-01. Another version is Ural 44202-02 with 220 hp Kamaz 740-10.20 diesel, produced since 1989 to 1993. After the fire at Kamaz engine factory, Ural produced Ural 44202-10 with YAMZ 236, Ural 43202-31 with YAMZ 238 and Ural 44202-41 with YAMZ 236NE2.
