In 1990, one of a surviving chassis MAZ 7908 was converted to MAZ 79085 version with all the steered wheels. The vehicle was equipped with an electro-hydraulic steering with individual control of each wheel. This innovation allowed to set wheels of front and rear axles at different angles in different directions, significantly reducing the turning radius, or set them in the same direction in which the chassis was able to move sideways.
