KrAZ » CHR-3120
KRAZ CHR-3120 was one of the most original and revolutionary Soviet army truck with an articulated frame. It was unified with KRAZ CHR-3130 prototype, which differed by a two-section split frame with a powerful vertical hinge. This system with a conventional power steering and steering wheel from KrAZ-255 was developed and manufactured by NAMI in the 70s.
The front section had a cabin and 360 hp engine, radiatior and a fan driven by a hydraulic motor. A gearbox and tranfer gearbox was located under the cab to drive front axles and a hydraulic pump. The rear section had a flatbed platform with a length of 6.5 m for transportation of goods or installation of special equipment weighing up to 16 tonnes.
In 1983, KRAZ made the second 18-tonne long wheelbase version CHR-3120.02 with a longer 10 m flatbed platform, which led to an increase of overall length by 2.1 meters.
