MoAZ-542 was a dual-purpose tractor truck with a wheelbase of 2600 mm made by MoAZ and MAZ engineers in 1962. Its engine was located in the rear, so the design was similar to MAZ-528, but technically was unified with uniaxle tractor MoAZ-546. MoAZ-542 was equipped with an experimental 240-horsepower diesel engine YaMZ-238, 4-speed gearbox with a two-speed transfer gearbox and a traditional leaf springs suspension. Range of speeds - 0.2 to 40 kph. Overall lenght - 5900 mm, turning radius - 7.2 m, curb weight - 12.5 tonnes. MoAZ-542 passed acceptance tests in 1964. The vehicle could have good future, but production capabilities Moaz was not enough to organize mass production of the new model.
