In 1968, KrAZ built prototype of the third generation: a 10-tonnes chassis 2E253 and a tractor 2E259 with a 16-tonnes actove semitrailer 2E834. They got an independent suspension with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and a simplified angular cabin. Two spare wheels were mounted on the bottom of the cab. Kraz 2E253 could reach maximum speed of 80 kph. The prototypes of the third generation were just a modified versions of the second generation trucks and were not a significant step forward.
