Spring 1974, Ural started manufacturing a diesel engined 44201-862 combination based on Ural-4420 chassis with a 210-horsepower engine KAMAZ-740. The active trailer Ural-862 remained unchanged from Ural-380-862 combination. It had been producing from 1975 to 1983.
At the end of the 70s, Moscow factory coachwork MZAK developed a more durable metal body 2214 with a carrying capacity of 5.7 tonnes and a curb weight of 4300 kg. The factory started its producing in 1980 under the name KM-862. The new trailer with this body recieved a new name Ural-862A, but the designation of the combinationed remained unchanged - Ural-44201-862. Since 1978, active trains used Ural 44202-10 chassis as a tractor.
