Rally Raid Dakar - Stage 5. Leader has changed.
The 5th stage has been won by Firdaus Kabirov (Kamaz), who picks up his 35th victory on the Dakar, and in no small measure! Indeed, taking advantage of his team leader Chagin’s mechanical problems who lost over 20 minutes near 300 km of the stage, the Russian distance his closest pursuer, his team-mate Eduard Nikolaev (Kamaz), by 20’05 and the Czech driver Alès Loprais (Tatra) by 21’25. Chagin reached the finishing line 22’17 behind Kabirov. As a result, in the general standings, Kabirov regains the command of the race, 13’36 ahead of his countryman and team-mate Vladimir Chagin (Kamaz) as well as 25’20 in front of Czech driver Alès Loprais (Tatra). So, overall ranking is:
1st - Kabirov / Belyaev / Mokeev, Kamaz №502, 17:39:08, 00:00:00.
2nd - Chagin / Savostin / Shaysultanov, Kamaz №500, 17:52:44, 00:13:36.
3rd - Loprais / Holan / Kalina, Tatra №504, 18:04:28, 00:25:20.
4th - Nikolaev / Mizyukaev / Rybakov, Kamaz №512, 18:42:18, 01:03:10
5th - Echter / Ruf / Klein, MAN №507, 18:42:23, 01:03:15.
Stage winner in bike section is Goncalves (BMW) and in car section is Peterhansel (BMW).
