Freightliner showcased Cascadia CNG trucks
Two new Freightliner Cascadia CNG trucks, powered by compressed natural gas, were shown during the 2018 ACT Expo Conference in Long Beach, California.
One of them was created in collaboration with the UPS. The truck with a short day cab is equipped with a Cummins Westport ISX12N Near Zero NOx engine, running on natural gas, and an automated manual gearbox Eaton Fuller Advantage Series. According to the company, such a power plant in combination with aerodynamic design can give an increase of fuel efficiency of up to 3% compared to the conventional Cascadia CNG.
"By partnering with companies such as UPS, for pilot innovations such as the new Cascadia CNG truck, we can continuously evaluate and improve our products," says Kelly Gedert, marketing director of Freightliner Trucks and Detroit Components.
