Great reveals from Ford companies

Ford America has just revealed what the all-new full-size Ford Transit and next-gen Transit Connect will look like at a huge European media and dealer event in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The "Go Further" event is part of Ford's strategy to expose as many people as possible to their newest products and technology. The introduction of the new generation Transit and Transit Connect models is a major step in Ford’s commitment to completely redesign its entire commercial vehicle line-up for Europe by the end of 2013.

The full-size Transit van will eventually replace the current North America-only E-Series van and will be equipped with at least two engine options: the same 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 EcoBoost found in the Ford F-150, and a yet-to-be-named turbo-diesel option. The Transit will be available with different roof heights, at least two different wheelbases, and only in rear-wheel drive. It's worth noting that in Europe, the Transit will use the powerful DuroTorq 2.2-liter I-4 TDCi and will be offered with a RWD, AWD, and 4WD drivetrain.

Also revealed in Amsterdam, the next-generation Transit Connect will have a completely new look and more upgrades as well. The new model has a more aerodynamic exterior design and a vastly improved interior layout. The smaller commercial van will have two wheelbase choices and offer two gasoline engines. No specific date for their on-sale dates have been given. Both the Transit and Transit Connect have been subjected to Ford’s ultra-stringent commercial vehicle testing and durability standards, covering millions of miles of testing in laboratories, at proving grounds and in customer fleets.
