Fuso FE trucks gets a GM gasoline engines rated at 297 hp

Another world's premiere at the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis is the gas-powered versions of the Fuso FE trucks. From the beginning, there will be available two Class 4 models - the FE 140 and FE 160. Both are fitted with a 6-cylinder 297 hp General Motors gasoline engine that is matches to an Allison 1000 automatic transmission. It uses Fuso's software Fuel Sense 2.0 and saves from 2 to 6% of fuel.

The Class 5 model FE 180 will receive the gasoline engine early next year and will be the only Class 5 gas-powered trucks in the USA. All three trucks will feature PTO capability future models can be equipped to use compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Trucks are fitted with a 150-liter fuel tank, which will provide 300 to 400 miles range.

FE gas trucks will also usher in a new interior cab design that later will be used for diesel models as well. The driver's seat has been improved to provide more support and comfort, and the seat belts are red for better visibility. The instrument cluster colors have been revised to improve visibility and cabin lights have been converted to LED. A new driver-side overhead console adds storage space as does a new flor tray and sun visor pocket.
