Mercedes-Benz » Econic NGT 1828
In 2008, at the motor show in Amsterdam was presented a concept truck for long-haul traffic on the chassis of Econic II. It is equipped with 279 hp engine, running on a natural gas and has a huge sleeping compartment over the cab made by the largest Holland transport company Vos Logistics. Environmental requirements for vehicles in Europe are constantly tightened. In addition to well known standards Euro 4 and Euro 5, there are even more stringent regulations on emissions and noise, are adopted and operated within restricted areas of some big cities. That's why Mercedes-Benz was created the Econic NGT concept. The letters NGT in the index means «Natural Gas Technology». Gas powered Econic easily meets the requirements of environmental standard EEV, more stringent than Euro 5. Using of natural gas in engines reduces CO2 emissions by 20% compared with existing today "clean" diesels. And if you will use biogas produced from waste treatment, there will not be CO2 emissions at all. It should be noted also that there is much less soot emission. Mercedes-Benz Econic NGT 1828 is designed for intraurban transport, as well as short and long distances transport. Transmission is Alliston, automatic. German designers offer two alternatives of the gas engine for this truck: compressed natural gas (range is up to 350 km) and liquefied gas (range is increased to 800 km). This gas vehicle can reduce fuel costs by 30 to 60%.
