Mercedes-Benz » Axor II C
The updated Axor II in C and R versions was introduced in 2004. The Axor II C model is a heavy version in the new family. This model is the modified first generation Axor truck. If the Axor I was only a two-axle truck tractor (in Germany only such versions were available), the new range is much wider and includes trucks with different wheel configurations: 4x2, 4x4, 6x2 and 6x4. The design of the new Axor is very similar to the Actros model. The dashboard in distribution version is very compact, and it is free of handbrake (it is located near the seat). The same panel, but in the long range hauls version is equipped with three pockets, and there is a handbrake installed on it. And the most expensive version "Comfort" has wooden trimming and closing box in the middle. The interior has completely new decoration materials. Axor also received beds from the Actros model (a bed from the top has an orthopedic mattress on special springs). 12-liter engines can be equipped now with a patented turbo brake system (Turbobremse). There is a double-flow turbine with movable flap instead of a usual turbine. The developers claim that such system together with the Konstantdrossel system (optional vent valve, which opens during braking) could replace an expensive retarder. Axor cab be equipped with three types of transmissions: Telligent with a joystick, manual and mechanical-hydraulics system (where the lever is connected to a gearbox with a hydraulic drive).
