The heavy series 700-1000 L1 also had cabover versions L1F. The cab was maximum unified with light and medium duty series 400-600 L1F, but differed by more height from the ground to the floor, because of placing under it more powerful engines. In 1962, after the modernization of engine from the index L1F remained only one letter F (for example, 770 F). But this index was not used for a long time. Soon (after 1963) MAN switched to a new indexation of its trucks (figures to the point designated payload, and after the point - engine power). The main models were 10.210F, 10.212F, 15.230F etc. A number of heavy tractors were kept the old indexation after 1963. So 15-ton semi-tractor with a180 hp engine received the name 1580DF.
