In the mid-40s, Western Transportation Company began to grow very rapidly. Roads there were smooth and straight, and the law allowed using long combinations. Especially for them Mack created version LT with increased wheelbase. Two and three-axle trucks were equipped with gasoline (Thermodyne EN707A in standard) or diesel (Cummins) engines. Transmission was manual 10-speed in standard, but for an extra fee the customer could order a gearbox with number of steps up to 20. The range included 2- and 3-axle models LTL and heavy duty three-axle version LTHSW. The LT series became popular not only in the west, but also in other parts of the United States and were made in quantity of 2009 pcs.
