In 1997, Ural presented one of the first prototypes of the new range with an old cab from IVECO. It was equipped with a German V-shaped 6-cylinder diesel engine Deutz KHD-BF6M1015 with rated at 272 hp at 2300 rpm and 950 Nm at 1300 rpm. It is coupled with a 9-speed manual gearbox Eaton FSO 8209F and a 2-speed transfer case.
The flatbed truck with a short daycab has a curb weight of 10,450 kg and could carry up to 10 tonnes of cargo. Overall dimensions — 9030х2500х3098 mm. Maximum speed is 90 km/h. Fuel consumption — 35 l / 100 km. Range — 950 km.
Mass production of this model started in the early 2000s under as the Ural 6361. The main difference was using of KamAZ-740.10 or YaMZ diesels, which were significantly cheaper compared to the German engine.
