International Trucks showcased the new Class 6/7 MV-series at the 2018 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Ind. The MV Series, the eventual successor to the DuraStar, completes the company’s Project Horizon product refresh.
The cabin got several changes, including new doors with lowered bottom edge of the side windows and removed vent window, that increases the visibility by 4%. The position of optional pedestal mirrors was optimized so drivers turn their heads less (by 5 degrees left and 15 degrees right) and keep their eyes on the road while reducing neck strain.
The new premium instrument panel features a customizable digital display suitable for medium-duty applications. A place for 30 different switches is provided on the flat front panel. The new steering column gears shifter and the engine brake control selector located on the front panel improves leg room for the driver, especially at the knee. An additional vent for the comfort of the central passenger was added. The advanced electric system Diamond Logic facilitates integration with various bodies.
The International MV series can be ordered with a short, extended or twin cab. There is a choice between Cummins B6.7 (200-360 hp) or Cummins L9 (260-380 hp) diesel. The Navistar N9 is no longer available. In the standard, the trucks will be equipped with an Allison 1000 HS automatic transmission or Eaton manual gearbox. Allison FuelSense 2.0 is an option.
