MAZ » 7912
Development of the unique 7-axle military chassis MAZ 7912 14x12 started in July 1976. It was based on the 6-axle MAZ 547A with cabins from MAZ 547V and a technical equipment.
The first prototype was made in 1977, two years later started its mass production. MAZ 7912 was specially made as a chassis for a missile complex 'Topol'. It is fitted with a 710 hp V-58-7 diesel with an updated cooling system and middle non-driven axle. The new chassis had two single-place cabins made of fiberglass: the left one for the driver, the right one — for the crew commander.
Curb weight is 31.5 tonnes (4 tonnes more, than MAZ 547A). Overall dimensions — 17,200x3390x2980 mm. There are two 450 liters fuel tanks. Range — 440 km. Fuel consumption — 310-410 liters/100 km. 100 copies were made till 1985.
