NAMI » 094 (ET-8)
In 1960, a massive 8-ton vehicle NAMI-094 (8x8) was considered as the most innovative heavy duty offroad vehicle. It was quite an exact copy of a U.S. 212-hp '56 M8-327-4 made by FWDcompany, from which it borrowed main chassis ideas and a cabin design. The Soviet prototype ET-8 was equipped with a 180-horsepower ZIL-375 engine. Huge pneumatic tires I-194 were 1200 mm in diameter and in windth with an extra low internal pressure (0.1 - 0.2 kg /sq.cm).
NAMI-094 got an all-metal body with an angular roomy 4-door cab and flatbed body with a tarpaulin. The wheelbase was 7400 mm, the center of gravity was located at a height of 1140 mm, curb weight - 12,610 kg. It had a special hydraulic cylinders to control the vehicle, which were deviating front boogie of the truck with a minimum turning radius of 15.5 m. NAMI-094 was almost twice as much as the US prototype weighed, difficult to manage, had very complex design and did not meet military requirements.
