21 NIII » I-21-15
In the late 1950s, the Research Institute of Wheeled and Tracked Vehicles from Peterhof developed an original cabover prototype I-210 (8x8). In 1962, 21 NIII designed a whole range of unified flatbed AWD army trucks I-21-15 based on I-210. They were equipped with diesel engines, manual transmissions and spinal tubular frame with swinging half-axles on independent torsion suspension (similar to Tatra chassis).
Only 4-axle prototype was built, while 2- and 3-axle versions were made only as a large-scale models. These machines were planned to use in general transport operations, but its unusual design, abundance of non-standard components and complexity of organization of industrial production made 21 NIII engineers to stop their further elaboration.
