ZIL » 136
Along with tests of ZIL-157R prototype ZIL made offroad tests of a special 3-axle floating prototype ZIL-136 with an integral body, assembled in July 1957 by order of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR. For the first time was used a simplified version of an onboard power transmission scheme with a front drive axle with a sides lock differential which transfered to the wheels. 140-horsepower gasoline engine and manual transmission from ZIS-110 limousine was located in the rear.
ZIL-136 was equipped with a tires pressure control system, power steering, flexible 20-inch tires or arched tires, water-jet engine, but there was no suspension. The original frameless canvas with a sunroof was made of aluminum sheets and bottom lined with stainless steel sheet. Curb weight was 5250 kg; a turning radius - 14 meters. Results of the tests showed a bad handling of the prototype. In the same experimental model 1957 triaxial armored vehicles BTR-E152V was built, similar to the previous two examples.
