The bonneted prototypes of the third generation KrAZ 3E6315 featured by high level of vibration and poor handling. KrAZ developed the fourth generation of trucks 4E6315 in 1986 to solve these problems. They got a new front spring suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers (from 8x8 version KrAZ 5E6316) and a new hood top with two cylindrical air filters, as well as a two-piece front radiator grille with reduced connector line. In May 1986, KrAZ started new factory tests of the improved prototypes. The tests were completed by the end of 1988 with almost good results.
