Ural C26.328P

2019 - 2019

The Ural C26.328P is a cabover 6×4 dump truck built by the Ural Automotive Plant in Miass and shown at Comtrans in Moscow in September 2019. It was meant as the first of a new family of road-going dump trucks with drive on the rear axles only. Only one prototype with this front-end design was built.

The truck has a restyled cabover cab with a new front end: large deflectors, a three-section curved bumper and three lens headlights on each side. The plant’s development director, Alexander Vedernikov, said the truck received a new ergonomic cab. But the truth is this is the old Iveco cabover cab, licensed by Ural in the 1990s, with a new front end.

The prototype’s tinted glass and closed doors made it impossible to check the interior at the show. The cab is described as having two doors and two seats with a sleeper berth, and a fully new interior was announced for the series version.

The chassis is a 6×4 layout taken from the bonneted Ural NEXT 6×4. Power comes from a YaMZ-536 inline-six turbodiesel (6.65 L / 406 cu in, Euro 5), rated at 328 hp (241 kW), and the gearbox is a nine-speed ZF. Reports also quote 312 hp (229 kW) for the engine, and one source gives the engine code as YaMZ-53676.10. Drive axles are Chinese HanDe Axle units with a 5.92 ratio, the brakes are pneumatic with Wabco components, and the fuel tank holds 350 L (92 US gal).

Gross vehicle weight is quoted as 27,500 kg (60,627 lb) or 26,000 kg (57,319 lb), depending on the source. Payload is given as up to 16,500 kg (36,376 lb), and curb weight as 11,350 kg (25,022 lb). The tipping body holds up to 16 m³ (565 cu ft), and its platform is said to be common with that of a second 6×4 Ural dump truck shown alongside it.

The plant described the truck as a “pilot” model. It said a pilot batch would be built in Miass in summer 2020 and that sales would start in the second half of 2020. The series trucks that followed have a simpler front end than the prototype.
