The economic crisis of 1929 caused the temporary joint of the American LaFrance and Republic companies, formed the LaFrance-Republic joint venture. It continued to produce the Republic's range consisted of 12 models. In 1932 this company was acquired by Sterling, allowing producing under the brand name LaFrance-Republic upgraded trucks of both companies - Republic and Sterling - until 1942.
