    Birmingham's electric dustcarts
When you think about it an electric dustcart is a very good idea, while stationary the engine isn't running, its almost silent progress is civilised to the point of gentility and its slow progress not a risk to life and limb. Completely opposite to the machines of today in other words, sadly today speed is king and the enviroment secondary as the modern lorry roars and revs its way around our streets. Here a Morrison vehicle is on its route with its cheerful crew in a Birmingham suburb sometime in the 1950s and is one of a large number operated by that progressive city\'s Corporation where even its dustbin lorries carried an attractive livery!
