Autocar division of White Motor Corp. unveiled a new tandem front axle construction vehicle in 1976. The truck, designated model DC-7386S and intended primarily for dump/mixer applications, is aimed at the Canadian market where weight laws favor its “tandem-tandem” axle configuration. Salient features of the unit include Autocar’s “U’-model offset cab and a powered front axle. Second axle of the front tandem is nonpowered.

The DC7386S was fitted with inline 6, V6 and V8 diesel engines rated at 230-450 hp. These engines can be used in conjunction with Fuller, Spicer mechanical transmissions and Allison automatic transmissions. First axle in the front tandem is a Fabco model SDA-23 rated 23,000 lb. The second, non-driving front axle is a Rockwell model FL-391 rated 20,000 lb and sprung from a Turner Quick-Lift suspension. The rear tandem is a Rockwell SSHD rated at 44,000 lb. The Autocar Model DC7386S is the first production heavy-duty truck in Canada to Incorporate a front drive/steering axle with exceptional performance disc brakes as a standard feature.

In 1977, Autocar presented another model in this range - C9384S with two non-driving steerable axles with either a lift or non-lift second axle.
