In 2002, Mercedes-Benz has tried to participate in Rally Raid. A race truck 2428 was created for this purpose on the chassis of a city truck 1420. With this truck Mercedes-Benz won the local Rally dos Sertões in the category of trucks from 2002 to 2004. The total length of the route was about 4000 km. Then there was an attempt to participate in a marathon Paris-Dakar. Unfortunately unsuccessful.
