Mercedes-Benz » Zetros
On the IAA-2008 in Hanover, the Daimler-Benz concern introduced bonneted off-road model Mercedes-Benz Zetros. This machine is "dual use" - both for army and for different services (energy companies, fire fighters, etc.). The truck is a further development of the military S2000 model. Zetros is offered in two versions: 4x4 (model 1833) and 6x6 (model 2733). GVW is 16 and 27 tons, payload of the chassis - 4 to 6 tons (4x4 model), and 7 to 10 tons (6x6 model). Both models are equipped with in-line six-cylinder OM926LA engine with an output of 326 hp (it is installed on the Unimog models also), which meets Euro 4 standard. Euro 3 version is also available. Gearbox is manual (8 gears and one low speed gear) or automatic. Four-wheel drive without possibility of turn off, transfer gear-box has 2 gears and the ratio of downshift gear is 1.69. The chassis is quite traditional: spring suspension, drum brakes, strong axles with side planetary gears, and 20-inch wheels. Some interior elements and steering wheel are taken from Axor model. Customer can also offer: retarder, central tire inflation system, winch, etc. Reduced height of the truck will make upload of Zetros in aircrafts much easy. Bonneted design need to rescue crew at hitting the front wheels on mine! There is also an armored version of Zetros.
