The next Unimog 406 with a payload of 1,75-2,0 tons offered since 1963 in U65 and U70 variants with a wheelbase of 2380 mm. The most powerful series 413 and 416 (80-100 hp) has been created in the late 60's based on the army Unimog S404. In 70-ies the Unimog range has been almost finished. In 1977, the Unimog 421 (U52) has become the lightest model "U600" with a payload of 1.35 tons, 2250 mm wheelbase and a 4-cylinder IDI OM 616 diesel engine (2404 cm3, 52 hp). On the chassis of Unimog 403 (U66) has been created the U72 model, later converted into 2.4-tonne U800 with a 4-cylinder OM314 diesel engine (3780 cm3, 72 hp). These models have been producing for a short time and were replaced by the 406/U84, which soon became one of the most popular Mercedes-Benz models - the Unimog 900 or U900. It used the old 84 hp diesel OM352 and synchronized manual 6-speed gearbox. The trucks received a rounded metal cab, disc brakes, power steering, self-locking differential, 2-3 power shafts.
