Mercedes-Benz » L5000 / L5500 / L6500 / L6600
In 1950, heavier versions with a longer hood the L5500 and L6500 have been added to L3500/L4500 range. The trucks were equipped with new 6-cylinder engines with an output of 100-145 hp and chrome front grille. The most successful was the L6500, pushed back from market products of the major competitors - companies Henschel and Krupp. Its 8.3-liter engine OM315, installed on ribber pads, was very still. The new 6-speed gearbox received synchronizers, driver's seat could be regulated in the longitudinal direction. The trucks had a maximum speed of 70 km/h. Since 1952, a reinforced version L6600 was produced with ane xtended cab for long-haul transportation, which were recognized one of the most beautiful and comfortable cabin of heavy trucks in Germany.
