The Matador was the ideal chassis for bus recovery tender and many bus companies that ran them went to a lot of trouble to rebuild the ex-WD machines with stylish cabs and bodywork. Almost all models had a different design, which could be look like the AEC style, or totally an individual style.
can anyone tell me where the orange ex fife scottish matador recoverytruck half way up the right collum is or put me in touch with the current owner, my dad drove and maintained it for years would love to see it again , and maybe give some info on it richard.hyslop@dsl.pipex.com
Hello Richard the matador used to be stationed at aberhill depot for a while.It has been restored in a blue livery and was up for sale just last year i think it was in north east area?.I work for stagecoach east scotland and have heared storys of this vehicle.
Can any body give me any info ?My granddad drove the recovery vehicle used by Catford Bus Garage in the war,i remember him showing me pictures as a child but all have been lost.Iam sure from memory it was a Matador .Any imfo would be very much appreciated.
