MAN » TGL I
In 2005, a new light range TGL (Trucknology Generation Light) was represented. GVW of different modifications is 7,5 t, 8t, 10t and 12 tons. Wheel bases are from 3,05 m (it's usually for dumpers) and almost reach 7m (two meters longer than the previous series). With a maximum base it is possible to install 10 m body on the frame. There are 4 engines available. Three of them - in-line 4-cylinder, with output of 150, 180 and 206 hp, and a six-cylinder engine with power of 240 hp. Abbreviation D08 suggests that the diameter of the piston remained the same - 108 mm. Piston stroke is not changed too (125 mm). The new D08 got the new Common rail injection system with 1600 bar pressure, four valves per cylinder, exhaust gas recirculation, intercooling. And a 206-hp engine has an unique two-stage turbocharging (two turbochargers are located one after the other), which improved torque to 830 Nm. For the first time distribution MAN recieved automatic transmission. The basis for the new gearbox TipMatic was taken a standard six-speed ZF gearbox. For the first time "a little MAN» received the braking system with electronic control. This system independently controls the wear pads. ABS system is serial, ESP is option. Engine brake is standard for all machines (except the 7.5-ton - there is an option). As an option EVB system is available. It is a compression brake, associated with the gas distribution mechanism. It is recommended for trucks, working with the trailer. The chassis changes are not so revolutionary: for example, spars frame became thinner, but increased in height. A new front axle and a range of lightweight rear axles are installed on truck now. As an option - lockable differential. Double balloon rear air suspension becomes easier and more compact. There are three cabins to choose - C, L and LX. The last two types are "sleeping" with low and high roof, were taken from TGA. In 2006, the truck received the title of "Truck of the Year".
