Mack » 8x8 / Kerax
Mack 8x8, also known as Mack Kerax, is the French Renault Kerax truck adapted to the military needs of the Canadian army. Such an exchange of models became possible in 2000 when Mack and Renault became subsidiaries of the Volvo group. In 2015, Mack Defense received a contract to supply more than 1,500 trucks with 8x8 configuration to the Canadian Armed Forces according to the Medium Support Vehicle System (MSVS) program. Deliveries began at the end of 2018.
The Mack 8x8 / Kerax was designed to carry heavy loads on hard surface roads. The main tasks include the transportation of troops, weapons, supplies, containers and equipment. It can also tow trailers and artillery pieces. The basic version of the Mack 8x8 / Kerax is a general-purpose truck. It can transport troops or various military goods. The truck can be equipped with a crane and can work with different shelters.
The truck is available with a standard or armored cab, single or twin row. The armored cab provides protection against small arms, artillery, land mines and improvised explosive devices. Mack 8x8 / Kerax is equipped with an 11-liter diesel engine Mack with an output of 460 hp. It is a rebadged Renault engine. It is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox ZF.
