DAF » T 1800 DF
DAF T 1800 DF was the company's first terminal tractor. It was created to transport containers in ports or factories. It was equipped with a rather weak engine with an output of 135 hp, but thanks to the Allison automatic transmission and the large ratio of the drive axle it could work as part of combinations with GCVW of 65 tonnes.
These terminal trucks featured a simple single-place cabin with a panoramic view. Access to the engine, located to the right of the cabin, was carried out through the hatch. Interestingly, the casing on the central hub of the left wheel served as a stepping stone to access the cabin. There is a transparent hatch in the roof of the cab.
Currently, one of these trucks can be seen in the factory museum. It was released in 1969 and discovered in the early 90s. The last owner was Houtnatie from Antwerp.
