ZIL » 133S
In the early 1960s, in the era of the development of new lands, the Soviet Union as never needed specialized agricultural dump trucks. Almost all cargo manufacturers, including ZIL, were making their development. In 1963, several employees of the youth public engineering bureau developed an interesting ZIL 133S dump truck on the chassis of ZIL 131 6x6 truck.
By the way, ZIL 131 was listed in prototypes in the beginning of 1960s. It should be noted that ZIL 133S had a wheel configuration of 6x4, not 6x6. Drive to the front axle was absent. The only prototype of the dumper successfully passed factory tests in the Moscow and Krasnodar region and was recommended for production at the Mytishchi Machine-Building Plant.
It is interesting that the body could lean back like ordinary dump trucks, but also lifted a few meters up. This decision was due to the peculiarity of operation of agricultural dump trucks. Since the production of ZIL-131 was planned to begin several years later it was decided to adapt the body structure to ZIL-130 chassis. The prototype was called ZIL-MMZ-551. It appeared in 1964 but it also did not come to serial production.
