Ford » F-Max

In the summer of 2018, the Turkish Ford Otosan showed a successor to the outdated Cargo model — the F-Max. Its official presentation took place at the end of September at the IAA 2018 in Hanover.

The new truck is a full-fledged development of the engineering center of Ford Otosan. It was originally created as a global product. Development took about 5 years, and the team included 500 people. During the tests the prototypes passed more than 5 million kilometers across the territory of 11 countries.

The cabin of the new Ford F-Max reminds Swedish trucks Volvo FH, although it has nothing to do with it and is its an own development. The width of the cabin is 2.5 m, the cabin height is 2.16 m, so the driver inside can stand in full growth.

A new 12.7 liter 500 hp Ford Ecotorq engine had been developed for the new model. It is joined with a 12-speed automatic transmission. The interservice interval of the truck is 120,000 km.

The production of a new model at the Ford Otosan plant will begin at the end of this year. 80% of components will be produced in Turkey, in 2020 the share of local parts will reach 90% (by the time the country has to localize the production of gearboxes). A large number of modifications have been allocated - in addition to the tractor, there will be construction and flatbed versions. Accordingly, the cabin will be released in versions without a sleeping compartment.

Ford Otosan has big plans for a new model. Every third truck released expects to sell abroad. First, the geography of exports will amount 40 countries, then it will be expanded to 50 states. Target markets - Europe, Russia, Middle East, Africa. Investments in the development and organization of machine production amounted to $500 million.
