Volvo » VNX '2018
Volvo debuted the new VNX construction model in 2018. This is the first redesign since its launch in 2013.
The model will be available in three versions. The VNX 300 will be shorter in terms of maneuverability (without a sleeper cab), the cab of the larger VNX 400 with flat roof was designed for short-term accommodation and the VNX 740 will have a nearly two-meter-long sleeper unit and is thus suitable for long distances.
Gross combination weight ratings ranges from 56.5 to 72.5 tonnes (from 125,000 to 160,000 pounds). Special versions will be able to work in combinations with GCVQ of up to 100 tonnes (225,000 pounds). Customers will be able to order a chassis with steer axles, lifting axles or tridem drive axles. The new Volvo VNX is available as the 6x4 tandem, 8x4 tandem and 8x6 tridem. Front axle ratings range from 5 to 7 tonnes (from 16,000 to 20,000 pounds) with parabolic springs, the rear axles – from 21 to 25 tonnes (from 46,000 to 55,000 pounds).
The standard powertrain for the new Volvo VNX is the D13 rated at 500 hp and 2500 Nm. It is attached to the 13- or 14-speed Volvo I-Shift automated transmission. Another available engine is the Cummins X15 Performance Series with an output of 605 hp and 2800 Nm. It works with Eaton Ultra Shift Plus or manual gearbox.
Like all Volvo models, the new Volvo VNX cabin is built with high-strength steel and exceeds both the Volvo Swedish Cab Safety Test and ECE R-29 rollover requirements. The standard driver's airbag is now joined by an integrated, seat-mounted rollover airbag on the driver’s side. Volvo Enhanced Stability Technology is also standard equipment for all Volvo VNX.
The dashboard has been optimized for easier access to important information. The 5-inch color display with advanced graphics works with steering wheel-mounted controls.
