DAF » YA 2442 / YA 2443

At the end of the 1960s, DAF made an attempt to create a range of military 2-ton trucks DAF YA 2440 series. In 1974, 2 prototypes of DAF YA 2442 with a flatbed cargo platform for military purpose were assembled. They got a DAF F218 cabin with a hatch and frame for the installation of a machine gun. The power came from a 6-cylinder DAF DF615 diesel with a capacity of 6170 cm3 and power of 126 hp. Overall dimensions — 5480x2440x3320 mm, wheelbase — 3200 mm. Curb weight is 5120 kg.

Two years later, in 1976, another prototype was made which was named YA 2443. Despite its external similarity to YA 2442, it was maximally unified with a 4-ton YA 4440 truck. For example, the engine was moved slightly forward compared to the YA 2442, and the chassis was a shortened YA 4440 chassis with lighter axles and a turbocharged engine. DAF YA 2443 was approximately 70-80 mm lower than the YA 4440.
