Ural » 5920
The tracked transporter Ural 5920 is the uniq vehicle to transport goods by any kind of surface. It can work at temperatures from +40 to -50 degrees Celsius.
Development started in 1970 based on NAMI-0157M prototype. The first prototypes of Ural 5920 were made in 1976. They successfully passed factory and government tests. The next year the transporter was recommended to mass production. Production started in 1981 and ceased in the early 1990s due to hard economic situation.
The chassis of an 8-ton transporter has 4 tracks instead of two of regular tractors. This design allows Ural 5920 to perform more complex maneuvers. GVW — 22500 kg. Top speed — 30 kph. Fuel consumption — 100 liters per 100 km. The engine is KamAZ 740 rated at 210 hp. The cabin is from Ural 4320.
In 2002, Continent LTD from Ekaterinburg restarted producing of Ural 5920 under the name TS-1. The updated transporter got a modified chassis and YAMZ 238 diesel.
