MAZ 7907 24x24 with an electric-manual transmission TE-660-24 was the articulated 12-axle self-propelled platform with a payload of 150 tonnes. Development started in March 1983, the first prototype was finished in March 1985, the next — later the same year.
It was fitted with a gas turbine engine GTD-1000TFM with an output of 1200 hp, located on the front part of the frame under the original 3-place cabin with 3-part windshield. The engine powered only electric generator VSG-625 which transfer energy through transmission to 24 electric motors (30 kW each).
The second design feature is the articulated frame. It was extremely long and could be broken during truck movement. To avoid this, engineers divided it into two equal-sized hexagonal sections and set a simple horizontal hinge between them. First 4 axles and 4 rear axles were driveable. Each wheel has independent hydroair suspension, which was similar to the MAZ 7906. Curb weight is 65.8 tonnes. Wheelbase — 9065 mm (front part) and 9220 mm (rear part). Overall dimensions — 28187x4690x4450 mm. Track of all wheels — 3330 mm. Ground clearance — 485 mm. Turning radius — 27 meters. Top speed — 40 kph.
After the factory tests, the 7907 was shipped to Volgograd to mount a model prototype of the 15U157 launcher from the 15P162 Celina-2 complex. Till 1987, the prototype passed 2054 km with the top speed of 25 kph.
