MAZ » 547E
The most unusual version in the MAZ 547 range was the MAZ 547E prototype made in 1978. It is fitted with an electric transmission TE-500-12 with an output of 800 hp and 8 motor wheels. The main purpose of creation the prototype was testing a new type of powertrain.
The powerplant was made in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), while electric systems were developed and produced in Novosibirsk. The prototype got a gas turbine engine GTD-1000A with an output of 1000 hp. The engine was used to drive the VSG-625 electric generator and then electric motors DST-34/6 rated at 34 kW (46 hp) each. Curb weight of the vehicle is 28 tonnes, GVW — 84 tonnes. Top speed — 47 kph.
