MAZ » 79111 'Oplot-V'

MAZ 79111 'Oplot-V' is the second base chassis in the 'Oplot' range. It has a payload of 22.6 tonnes, front engine compartment and single fiberglass cabins. In fact, MAZ 79111 is the MAZ 543M with reinforced units. The first prototype was made in 1974. It passed factory tests in 1975 and produced till the mid-1980s in small quantities. Its main design feature is the new reinforced rear suspension with three longitudinal torsion bars on each wheel. Curb and total mass was increased by 100 and 300 kg, respectivelly (21.2 and 43.8 tonnes), comparing to MAZ 543M. Overall length - 11760 mm. Fuel tanks capacity is 740 liters. Range - 800 km.

MAZ 79111 with a 650 hp diesel was intended to be the main chassis for a new missle complex 9K58 'Smerch'. Several copies were made and went into service. 'Oplot-V' also became the base for missle launcher 9V-2413 of a missle complex RK-55 "Relief'. Only 6 copies were made for tests in 1982-1983. They went to serive in 1984, but 3 year later all copies were destroyed according the Treaty on the Elimination.
