Hino Motors Ltd. on April 5 simultaneously released fully upgraded Profia heavy-duty truck. The safety performance of the new model has been significantly bolstered, and the truck is equipped with an information communication technology (ICT) service feature.

This is the first full upgrade in around 14 years for the new Profia, which comes equipped with a standard pre-collision safety (PCS) system that helps avoid collisions by using millimeter wave radar and image sensors to detect pedestrians and stopped vehicles. Available as an option are variable light distribution-type LED headlights, which can use the high beam at all times for enhancing night visibility. This marks the first time that truck have adopted both of these features.

The new Profia is equipped with three types of new seats that are rated the most comfortable for commercial vehicles. Hino has strived to create a comfortable space in these new models by employing a 7-inch large liquid crystal meter and steering switch to alleviate driving stress, enabling ease of use among women and a wide range of age groups.

There is also a new exterior design for the cab. The Profia 2017 also got a new 9 liters engine rated at 380 hp, which is a downsizing version of 13 liters 410 hp engine (also available as an option). Thanks to the new unit, Profia now achieves FY2010 ecological standard. GVW - 25 tons.
