Peterbilt » 220 '14
In 2014, Peterbilt Motors Company introduced an all-new Model 220 to its medium-duty COE lineup that features numerous interior and exterior enhancements to increase driver productivity, safety and durability. Changes are similar to the new DAF CF. The all-new cab features a completely redesigned interior that was engineered to give operators unparalleled levels of productivity and comfort. The new curved dashboard features easy-to-read instrumentation and an interactive, 5-inch color display module that provides information on vehicle and driver performance.
The new cabs are designed for durability to withstand harsh, urban operating environments. For instance, the new bumper is manufactured from galvanized steel, there’s a new radiator protection plate and the headlamps are protected by a tough Lexan covering. For improved visibility during adverse conditions, fog lamps have been integrated into the bumper. Implementing the new cab allowed Peterbilt to integrate the new EBS.
Peterbilt announces new design features and options that result in weight savings, better performance and improved serviceability for the Peterbilt Model 220 in 2017. Among the new features is a redesigned vertical exhaust. The single canister aftertreatment in this design replaces the former dual canister design, saving up to 100 lbs. per unit. The design also increases the Model 220’s cab-to-axle distance by six inches. The battery box in this exhaust configuration has also been reduced in size, resulting in a combined weight savings of up to 165 lbs.
