The modern range of products in the MAN CLA Evolution series includes tractor units in various axle combinations and chassis’ with or without bodywork. At IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016, MAN showcased the new market-specific configurations for the series, new design elements and the eco-friendly Euro 4 engine with a 6.9-litre cylinder capacity. These robust trucks are now being exported via existing MAN sales structures to 40 markets. Since being introduced to the market ten years ago, the series has been delivered to a wide range of international customers.
The redesigned bumper in plastic or steel and the radiator grille reinforce the modern design and support reduced fuel consumption. The new 6x4 version of the MAN CLA Evolution 31,300 model has now been re-approved for 31 t loads, with the 8x4 version increased to 37 t. This payload advantage is particularly noticeable with large tippers or transport mixer chassis’ with 7 m³ cylinders, whose volume can now be better utilised.
The MAN CLA Evolution is being offered with a Common Rail 6-cylinder in-line engine with 220 hp, 230 hp, 280 hp or 300 hp. The new EURO 4 6.9-litre unit is at present intended for the Indian, Moroccan and Filipino markets. Now with 300 hp at 2300 rpm, it achieves a torque value of 1150 Nm at 1200–1800 rpm. The vehicles are available with either a ZF 9-gear overdrive gearbox or 6-gear overdrive gearbox from Eaton. In addition, there's also an Allison automatic gearbox available.
