NAMI » 058
In April 1958, NAMI began developing of a 4-axle cabover truck NAMI-058 (8x8) with carrying capacity of 8-9 tonnes to install heavy weapons. Original and modified details of Ural-375 trucks (axles, brakes, steering, suspension, wheels, towing device), as well as units from ZIL, MAZ and YAZ vehicles were used in the design. The power unit, clutch and gearbox borrowed from an artillery tractor AT-C. The frame, two-speed transfer gearbox and two separate 1-place metal cabins with panoramic windshields and plastic roofs were developed special for NAMI-058. The cabins were placed on both sides of the engine compartment with a possibility to install a missile launcher between them. The first prototype of NAMI-058 was assembled in 1960.
A diesel engine B-54T V12 (38.9 l, 275 hp) from an AT-C tractor was used as a power unit for NAMI-058. Two front steering axle had thier own semi-elliptic leaf springs with two telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers. The rear boogie was similar to rear suspension of Ural 375. Total capacity of the two fuel tanks reached 400 liters.
Wheelbase - 4200 mm, the front track - 1980 mm, rear - 2000 mm. Ground clearance - 410 mm. Curb weight in various models - 10800-11925 kg, GVW - 18.9-20.0 tonnes. Maximum speed on a highway - 70 kph, on a soft plowing - 28 kph, minimum speed - 5.9 kph. Turning radius - 11 m. Fuel consumption - 50 l / 100 km.
NAMI-058 passed a factory tests in the summer of 1961 together with main competitors. The following spring, the military commission decided to use ZIL-135L as the main chassis for a missle launcher, while NAMI started deveoping of an improved model.
