BAZ » 937 / 938 / 939

The starting point in history of the first three-axle range of special chassis BAZ is 1960, 27th of October when the government desided to develop an all-weather air defense missile system (ADMS) known later as "Wasp". To improve efficiency and mobility, the idea was to install it on a self-propelled floating chassis.

In 1966, BAZ started designing of a triaxial rear engined amphibious vehicles. Its design was similar to ZIL-135LM, but the first prototypes had a narrow cabin and unarmored hull. The range included several chassis: BAZ-937 for a launcher, BAZ-938 for placing maintenance funds and BAZ-939 for transport and loading vehicle (TLV). Later serial made vehicles received designations 5937, 5938 and 5939.
