The same time with the developing of two-axle prototypes of military trucks of a new generation, Ural created the first 4-axle army truck Ural-395 (8x8) with a payload of 8.5 tonnes, cab-over-engine and all the single wheels. The first prototype of Ural-395 was made in 1972 and was equipped with a diesel YaMZ-741 V10 engine (13.6 liter, 260 hp). The transmission consisted of an 8-speed manual gearbox and 2-speed transfer box - both with pneumatically drive. Ural-395 had a balancing suspension of all wheels, power steering, tire pressure control system, winch and all-metal cargo platform with a canopy. A fiberglass cabin was similar to Ural-379A. Overall dimensions are 8304x2500x2800 mm, ground clearance - 400 mm. Curb weight - 10,620 kg, the total weight - 19,320 kg. Top speed is 75 kph and has a cruising range of 1,000 km.
