BAZ » 3405-9366
BAZ-3405-9366 prototype combination was developed by BAZ, and then had been testing from 1971 to 1982. In fact, it was an attempt to create a more simple, reliable, practical and lightweight alternative to a ZIL-137. Initially, it was based on a modified 150 hp ZIL-131V, renamed as a BAZ-3405, which was equipped with a bevel gear to transmit torque from the transfer case to the gearbox and wheels of the semitrailer. The first prototype was built in April 1972, and after that BAZ started developing of the active semitrailer BAZ-9366, which was presented in October 1973. It based on a 137A semitrailer, but due to a small reduction in weight its payload was increased to 7.6 tonees.
Exterior of ZIL-137 and BAZ-3405-9366 was very similar, even their technical characteristis were almost identical. Curb weight of BAZ-3405 was reduced to 6725 kg, semitrailer - up to 3665 kg, curb combination weight was 10,390 kg, GCVW - 18.2 tonnes, while its overall length was decreased by only 40 mm (up to 14,040 mm). Top speed of fully loaded BAZ-3405-9366 was 61.5 kph and it had a turning radius of 10.1 m. In 1977-1978, 170-hp diesel engined ZIL-131MV was used as a tractor. BAZ-3405-9366 was not better than the already running in production ZIL-137.
